The River Yoga may just be one of Denver’s most exciting yoga studios, and not just for their off-street parking in downtown Denver!
As a small, independently-owned yoga studio, they opened in the Golden Triangle in 2012 and truly live up to the hype that yoga really is for everyBODY. Perhaps one of the greatest things about a local studio is the community found there. From childcare to workshops, to live music at its Soulful Saturday classes and First Fridays – there’s a yoga home for you. Plus, the teachers are out and in the Denver yoga community teaching and practicing at special events and pop-ups.
The River Yoga Meets You Where You Are
The River Yoga classes and teachers exude that kind of open acceptance which is just what you want when you’re trying some of their more unique and challenging classes like Yoga Cross (functional fitness + yoga with their neighbors Fitness in the City) or Deep Stretch & Meditation. At both Katy Rowe’s class at Yoga on the Rocks, and Andy Jan’s Heated Power Yoga in the studio, I appreciated the focus on alignment, on connecting with the breath, and on moving into poses that felt right for me in the moment. Their classes meet you where you are, but also offer the space for you to explore and open up your practice.
Personally, The River Yoga had been on my radar after going to one of Kady Lafterty’s other classes (shout out to Big Booty Yoga @ The Walnut Room every Sunday). All yoga instructors are not created equal, so I figured if the rest of The River Yoga teachers were anything like Kady, I’d be in heaven. I was not disappointed.
We are the same. We are one.

organization that aims to improve the quality of life of people affected by traumatic brain injuries
(TBIs)—from concussion to severe injury—through programs that build community. The
LoveYourBrain Yoga Program supports people who have experienced a TBI and their
caregivers to participate in community-based gentle yoga and meditation classes tailored to
their needs. The River Yoga is the sole LoveYourBrain yoga partner in Colorado to date.
